THE MINISTER OF HIGHER EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND INNOVATION VISITED THE UNIVERSITY OF TSUKUBA, JAPAN

Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov arrived in Japan to participate in the “Round Table of Ministers of Science and Technology” and the international forum “Science and Technology in Society”, which will be held in Kyoto, Japan, October 1-3.

I. Abdurakhmonov began his visit by getting acquainted with the programs of Sukuba University. The University of Tsukuba is ranked among the top nine universities by the Japanese government as part of the Top Global University Project.

Minister I. Abdurakhmonov met with the rector of the University of Tsukuba, Kyosuke Nagata. At the meeting, issues of exchange of researchers, advanced training of university teachers, and organization of joint scientific programs were discussed.

I. Abdurakhmonov also met with students studying at the Central Asian Center for Human Resource Development of this university. During the meeting, the minister informed university teachers and students about reforms in the field of higher education. The NIPCA program, implemented in cooperation with Japan and Central Asian countries, was also discussed.

The NIPCA program of the University of Tsukuba, implemented since 2019, aims to develop human capital in Central Asian countries. Every year, as part of this project, 50 students receive a grant from the Japan Foundation.
