
Regional Seminar of Technical Cooperation Mechanisms for “Green” innovation
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Innovative Development, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP/UN ESCAP), scientists and members of the public.
The event was opened by the Director General of the National Innovation Office under the Ministry of Innovative Development Olimjon Tuychiev, Director of the UNESCAP Asia-Pacific Center for Technology Transfer, prof. Preeti Soni, Head of the UNESCAP Regional Office for North and Central Asia Nikolai Pomoshnikov.
The growing threats and challenges associated with climate change and environmental issues require the exploration and implementation of new ways of producing, consuming and livelihoods.
Joint research programs, exchange of knowledge and experience, policy promotion and technical assistance from specialized technology and innovation networks/centres in collaboration with leading organizations, as well as the implementation of regional cooperation mechanisms play an important role in the development, transfer, implementation and dissemination of green » technology and innovation. Certain mechanisms, such as public-private partnerships and private sector participation, also have great potential to promote green innovation.
Sharing best practices and strategies to promote technical cooperation through the regional green innovation platforms is essential to raise awareness of the opportunities available and how to exploit them. In the seminar there were discussed the role and importance of introducing "green" innovations and technologies aimed at mitigating the effects of environmental and climate change, as well as increasing economic efficiency.
One of the main mechanisms of regional cooperation is the development, transfer, and implementation of "green" innovations through the implementation of research programs, knowledge sharing, popularization of science and technical assistance from specialized technology and innovation networks/centers in cooperation with other leading organizations in this field. Certain mechanisms, such as public-private partnerships and active involvement of the private sector, also have great potential to promote green innovation. Sharing best practices and strategies to promote technical cooperation through the regional green innovation platforms is essential to raise awareness of the opportunities available and how to exploit them.
During the seminar, presentations on the topic “Business models and financing mechanisms for supporting green innovative entrepreneurship and start-ups” were made by Mr. Zhao Zhongyuan, Head of China Technology Transfer Center SCO Technology Transfer, Mr. Jens Böhlmann, Head of Communications for Small and Medium Business "Green Deal" of the Eastern Committee of the German Economy and other regional representatives.
