The first meeting of the Uzbek-Kazakh working group was held on the topic of the USAID YERAS II project “Combating drought and sandstorms on the Aral coast”

On October 19 of this year, a meeting of the Uzbek-Kazakh working group was held within the framework of the USAID project (ERAS II) to develop a bilateral “Road Map” that defines the main strategic directions and potential actions on the topic “Combating drought and sandstorms on the Aral coast”.

The purpose of the meeting of the Uzbek-Kazakh working group within the framework of the YERAS II project is to improve water resource management by coordinating the impact of the Aral Sea disaster on the territory of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as the development of drought-resistant agriculture. and new expansion of forests through planting forest crops, sharing experience on planting methods, preventing the loss of biological diversity.

More than 50 doctors of science and candidates of science from ministries and departments of the two countries (PhD, DSc), specialists, as well as representatives of a number of international organizations took part in the meeting of this working group.

Ekaterina Strikeleva, regional manager of water and environmental projects of USAID, Madi Nurpeisov, head of the department of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Umidjon, head of the department of investments in science and foreign grants of the Agency for Innovative Development, Khoshimov opened the event.

During the meeting of the working group of the USAID ERAS-II project on restoration of the dry bottom ecosystem of the Aral Sea, a “Road Map” of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was developed, the goals of the bilateral working group within the framework of the ERAS II project were presented, and following the meeting, a “Road Map” and future goals and objectives are outlined to continue effective bilateral cooperation.
